Christmas Time!!!

I love Christmas! We have been steadily building up a collection of 'December only' decorating pieces. This year we have themed the tree in red and gold. The bable bowls are green and blue and Maegen has put together a very striking tray of hot pink and purple baubles. The lights are up on the house and the wreath on the door! Bring on Santa.....

The Waifs

I went and saw The Waifs at the Tivoli last night with my fellow local Waifs devotees! Had an awesome night and can't wait to catch them again at the festival this year. They played some of the new songs from Sun Dirt Water, but also some of their classics, London Still, Gillian, Bridal Train. The support act was Old Man River from Sydney, they were great too. I probably didn't take as much notice as I should have, I was too impatient! LOL

Extra motivation

I haven't really lost any weight over the last couple of weeks. I did get a call from the weight reduction club asking if I would be interested in entering a competition.
I had to supply a photo and sign the form. I am a wee bit competitive, so it will be great motivation to get my butt back into gear.
This is a picture of me 4kg lighter than the original picture. I still have a long way to go!!!

Too hard basket

A good marriage would be between a blind wife and a deaf husband. ~Michel de Montaigne, Essays

This quote has me so upset! Why? Call it the analyst in me, the worrier, the compassionate :-( I am sure the quote was written in jest, and well, of course I had to try and analyse it! I am trying to put myself in this situation. I can hear him moving but cannot see him, how do I find him, I could yell, but he would not hear.
He can see me but not speak clearly to me. I can hear but not pass on news or information if I cannot see to write it to him (well just use a lot of paper if I go blind at this stage of life) :-( Please God never let me lose my sight! I know it's just a quote, but oh my god, what a mind burn. I gave Dave an extra big hug and kiss tonight.

I saw the Oprah show recently with the Mum of the worlds only deaf and blind triplets. I can't stop thinking about her or the lives of those poor little girls. I gave the girls an extra big hug and kiss that afternoon.

Slow and Steady

As it turns out I was heavier than I thought! When I started Weight Reduction Club my start weight was 79.9kg. I thought I was 77kg.
After two months I weighed in this morning at 76kg even. I am averaging 500g a week, which is what is recomended. I am just impatient! LOL I have managed to be the runner up loser of the month both months - and that gets me a smiley button to put on my ribbon :-)
I was also given a paint pallet this morning for losing 1/2 stone. Now for each stone I lose I get a gemstone. Looking forward to getting my first one - only 2.2 kg to go.

Of drought and flooding rains

I took the girls for a drive yesterday afternoon. I had heard alot of the creeks were up and the river was running strong. We haven't had anything close to flooding here since February 1999, just after we brought Erin home from hospital. The Stanley River feeds the Somerset Dam which feeds Wivenhoe (Brisbane's water supply) Apparently 1.5m of water had flowed in from the Stanley by Thursday. It then rained all of Thursday night and all day Friday. We had the news helicopters flying around and got a lot of coverage on the news last night.

Pay It Forward Gifts

Well here they are! I decided to do pay forward ear rings as a gift rather than something scrap related. Keep an eye on your mail boxes Julie, Eli and Trish :-)

Don't forget to pay it forward for three more people.

Pay It Forward

I have been loving reading about this concept in the newspapers and letters to the editor, the ones where someone has gone to pay at the toll gate and found that the car in front paid for them, and then the recipient pays it forward and does something random for someone else!

I was lucky enough to be reading ~Kathryn's~ blog and be one of the three to be receiving a hand made gift from her! How cool is that!

So - my turn to pay it forward.
The first three to respond will get a hand made gift from me, but! you must pay it forward and do the same for another lucky three.

100 Years

Joey's, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers and Rovers for as far as the eye can see! What a fantastic day, I hope the girls remember it for a long long time
:-)

I got a bit teary as we made our way through the city, so many people cheering and waving and so proud that my girls were a part of it. Being scouts has been nothing but positive and rewarding, confidence building and just plain good fun for my girls.

Dave even managed to get himself on the Channel Nine news report as he walked by. That was a buzz for us all! LOL

Sunrise in the City

We're back from our weekend in the City! We have had a great time and I was so proud of the girls marching with the Scouts. It is 100 years since the beginning of the scouting movement.

This is the sunrise over the city on Saturday morning, we stayed in the Rydges overlooking Southbank.

It's Only 10 kg

It can't be that hard - can it? It's not like I haven't done it before. As you can see from the picture I have gotten a bit porky again. Sorry Paula for dragging you in here :-)

It had managed to get down to 70 kg, but I got lazy, I love food. Damn those cheese platters and chardy's. Before I knew it I was up to 80 kg. Note the multiple chins and noice roll around the middle! Ignore the boobs, I've always had them ROFL!
I have lost 3kg since this picture was taken. I have signed up with the local weight reduction club (WRC), which is not really me, but it is somewhere to go to weigh in each week and be accountable. Part of the WRC guidelines require me to visit the Doctor and get a goal weight. Mine is 67 kg. So currently at 77kg - it is only 10kg to go. I am following the WW points plan, drinking heaps more water and walking every day I can.
It's only 10 kg - it can't be that hard - can it? Well I've told you all now, so I am just going to have to do it.

RIP "yes"

Has anyone else noticed the death of a very dear friend? It was often the friend that found us taking on much more than we intended or needed, but 'yes' has been killed off. Instead we now have the 2006 /07 buzz word ...... 'absolutley' !?
It's on the morning TV, it's on midday TV, it's in everyday life and phone conversations! It has taken over as the preferred reply to all statements!
I wish I had never noticed it, because now I hear it everywhere. Bring back plain old yes or OK...........please!

Absolutely I hear you answer..........arrrgggghhhhhhhhhhhh!

Going Down

I have joined up at my local weight reduction club. It is more a support group and social outing I think!
I need it for the motivation and accountability. If I have somewhere to go each week and weigh in I know I will be more successful than trying to go it alone. I have lost 2.8kg in 3 weeks. I would like to get to goal and stay there this time!

Farm Fantastic

Home again. Traffic was a shocker, nose to tail from about 5km away, but we made it in time. The girls drew a big crowd which was fantastic. I know I shouldn't compare, but compared the dance school that was on after them, our girls really enjoyed themselves and got into it - entertained!!
We then spent the rest of the day exploring and came home with the usual bags full of brochures. Found some great olive oil lip balm and some awesome smelling hand made soap. Try as I might I never did catch the Johnny Cash or Slim tribute shows...poo bum wee bugger and shit!

Harbour Bridge

Kesley arrived home from camp yesterday. She slept most of the afternoon after the long bus trip overnight from Sydney. They have visited Dubbo Zoo, the dish at Parkes, snow fields, Parliament House, War Memorial and Questacon to name a few.
It was very cold down south and Kelsey's comment on her first snow experience - I hated it!
The old digital camera played up a bit (bugger!) but what photos she did take are pretty awesome. Apparently not many of the cameras did work because of the cold. They must be set to Queensland weather! LOL We are off to Farm Fantastic today, Kelsey is dancing and I want to catch the Johnny Cash and Slim Dusty tribute shows if I can. Will probably come home with lots of brochures and very sore feet.

Here we go?

Well I can't quite believe I have done it! Gone and gotten myself a blog. After always saying what a waste of time they were and making up silly sayings for B L O G ......but hey I got sucked in! I have enjoyed keeping touch with so many online friends and sharing in the goings on in their lives, and all by sitting on my bum.
Maybe it's the death of the telephone? No more calls to see what we've all been up to, just a couple of keystrokes and it's all there in black and white and technicolour!
I am sure I have a lot to learn, to make it all pretty, take it or leave it, this is where I am. LOL
