Of drought and flooding rains

I took the girls for a drive yesterday afternoon. I had heard alot of the creeks were up and the river was running strong. We haven't had anything close to flooding here since February 1999, just after we brought Erin home from hospital. The Stanley River feeds the Somerset Dam which feeds Wivenhoe (Brisbane's water supply) Apparently 1.5m of water had flowed in from the Stanley by Thursday. It then rained all of Thursday night and all day Friday. We had the news helicopters flying around and got a lot of coverage on the news last night.

How far is this from your place? We've just seen all the flooding on the news - I guess the drought has broken LOL

This photo was taken just as you drive into Woodford from the west. About 2 mins drive from my house.

Hasn't all the rain been so wonderful? We've been at my sisters at Doonan where the roads have all been flooded. The Noosa river broke it's banks - great to see!
