Of drought and flooding rains

I took the girls for a drive yesterday afternoon. I had heard alot of the creeks were up and the river was running strong. We haven't had anything close to flooding here since February 1999, just after we brought Erin home from hospital. The Stanley River feeds the Somerset Dam which feeds Wivenhoe (Brisbane's water supply) Apparently 1.5m of water had flowed in from the Stanley by Thursday. It then rained all of Thursday night and all day Friday. We had the news helicopters flying around and got a lot of coverage on the news last night.

Pay It Forward Gifts

Well here they are! I decided to do pay forward ear rings as a gift rather than something scrap related. Keep an eye on your mail boxes Julie, Eli and Trish :-)

Don't forget to pay it forward for three more people.

Pay It Forward

I have been loving reading about this concept in the newspapers and letters to the editor, the ones where someone has gone to pay at the toll gate and found that the car in front paid for them, and then the recipient pays it forward and does something random for someone else!

I was lucky enough to be reading ~Kathryn's~ blog and be one of the three to be receiving a hand made gift from her! How cool is that!

So - my turn to pay it forward.
The first three to respond will get a hand made gift from me, but! you must pay it forward and do the same for another lucky three.

100 Years

Joey's, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers and Rovers for as far as the eye can see! What a fantastic day, I hope the girls remember it for a long long time
:-)

I got a bit teary as we made our way through the city, so many people cheering and waving and so proud that my girls were a part of it. Being scouts has been nothing but positive and rewarding, confidence building and just plain good fun for my girls.

Dave even managed to get himself on the Channel Nine news report as he walked by. That was a buzz for us all! LOL

Sunrise in the City

We're back from our weekend in the City! We have had a great time and I was so proud of the girls marching with the Scouts. It is 100 years since the beginning of the scouting movement.

This is the sunrise over the city on Saturday morning, we stayed in the Rydges overlooking Southbank.

It's Only 10 kg

It can't be that hard - can it? It's not like I haven't done it before. As you can see from the picture I have gotten a bit porky again. Sorry Paula for dragging you in here :-)

It had managed to get down to 70 kg, but I got lazy, I love food. Damn those cheese platters and chardy's. Before I knew it I was up to 80 kg. Note the multiple chins and noice roll around the middle! Ignore the boobs, I've always had them ROFL!
I have lost 3kg since this picture was taken. I have signed up with the local weight reduction club (WRC), which is not really me, but it is somewhere to go to weigh in each week and be accountable. Part of the WRC guidelines require me to visit the Doctor and get a goal weight. Mine is 67 kg. So currently at 77kg - it is only 10kg to go. I am following the WW points plan, drinking heaps more water and walking every day I can.
It's only 10 kg - it can't be that hard - can it? Well I've told you all now, so I am just going to have to do it.
